The United Nations University Institute for the Advanced Study of Sustainability (UNU-IAS), host of the IPSI Secretariat, and Escuela Superior Politécnica de Chimborazo (ESPOCH) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to jointly organize the Tenth Global Conference of the International Partnership for the Satoyama Initiative (IPSI-10).

The MOU was signed by Byron Ernesto Vaca Barahona, Rector of ESPOCH, and Shinobu Yume Yamaguchi, Director of UNU-IAS. The agreement formalizes cooperation between the IPSI Secretariat and ESPOCH for the preparation and delivery of IPSI-10, which will be held in Riobamba, Ecuador, from 3 to 5 March 2026, in a hybrid format. The conference will be co-organized by UNU-IAS; ESPOCH; the University of Georgia; and the Ministry of the Environment, Japan.

IPSI-10 will bring together IPSI members and partners from across regions and sectors to share knowledge and strengthen collaboration on the sustainable management of socio-ecological production landscapes and seascapes (SEPLS). It will also advance the implementation of the IPSI Strategy and Plan of Action 2023–2030. Hosting the conference in Ecuador provides an opportunity to highlight perspectives and experiences from the Andean region and Latin America.

Registration for online participation is currently open to IPSI members. Please go here for more information. Information on registration for participation in the Public Forum will be shared in due course.
