Abstract
Cocoa farming is the major economic activity for over 80 percent of inhabitants within the KCA. Extension services is major challenge faced by farmers within the area. This limitation is affecting productivity levels, and thus household incomes. Farmers are adapting by increasing their farms sizes into forested areas as means of shoring up productivity. Additionally, monitoring system of farmers’ productivity is limited. This project will implement an integrated package program for cocoa farmers within the project area; this will include training on good agricultural practices, training on farm management practices & capacity building on biodiversity conservation, community based monitoring and mapping systems. These are expected to enhance farmers’ knowledge and adoption on improved farming practices, increase farmers’ productivity by 30 percent, reduce deforestation, and also provide reliable GIS based on the productivity, location and sizes of farms.
